Multi Carrier Selection Tool

The Multi Carrier Selection Tool (MCT) is designed to select a specific carrier according to predefined rules via a background system. Filters and selection criteria are described below. The criteria are defined per customer by Spring Sales employees and entered in the front end of the Multi Carrier Selection Tool.

Selection Criteria

1. Price Based Decisions

Price based decisions, also known as the cheapest cost carrier, are a selection criterion for choosing carriers to book consignments. The tool determines the cheapest option and reports back the "Book Request". A label is created through MCT containing the carrier's label and MySpring label, merged into one PDF. This label is transferred to MySpring via the tool (data recorded as a label). The end customer prints out the label via MySpring.

2. Customized Selection

Customized Selection refers to selecting a specific carrier for a customer. The Spring Sales employee decides which carrier solutions may be selected for the customer and selects that carrier from the front end of MCT.

3. Daily Pickup

This option is only available for customized selected customers. Through this option, Spring Sales employees can decide on a daily pickup time for the customers. The time is given through the MCT front end and contains a 2-hour gap.

4. Emergency Rule

The emergency rule is triggered when a selected carrier is not available to book the package. Availability depends on the parcel/pallet logic and server of the carrier. The Spring Sales employee can decide to apply an emergency rule for their customers from the front end.

5. One Carrier Rule

The one carrier rule only allows one carrier to be picked per day. This rule is automatically applied for the customized carrier and is optional for the multicarrier.

6. Customer Selection (Rex Table)

This selection is linked with the multicarrier option. It makes the tool decide based on two cases, i.e., "Time" and "Cost".

  • Time-Based Selection: MCT first checks the availability of customer-provided time and returns it if available; otherwise, it suggests an alternative time.

  • Cost-Based Selection: MCT first selects the cheapest available carrier. It returns available if the time matches; otherwise, it suggests an alternative time.

7. Parcel-Pallet

This option helps in case of embargo or to close booking for some specific carriers. If the parcel-pallet is off, the emergency rule is triggered. Spring Sales employees can turn the parcel-pallets on and off from the MCT front-end settings.

Multicarrier Front End

The Multicarrier Front End allows Spring Sales employees to define and manage the selection criteria for each customer. It provides a user-friendly interface to input and modify rules and options as needed.
